Well it certainly feels like divine intervention to know that Bold Strokes Books will be publishing my second novel, The Fifth Gospel (release date to be determined).
I'm currently 20,000 words into the manuscript and this is the first time I've attempted, and actually completed, any real plotting. My new found organisational skills astound even my dog who, as we speak, is snuggled up on the floor beside me wondering why I ask him ridiculous questions at random intervals! Set in the UK and Europe, I can reveal I have an unlikely hero, a marketing guru and an evil force set destroy mankind (okay, that last bit is far from true, but the hero and marketing guru are a little bit true). Stay tuned. My main plot point is a little bit controversial (the title might give that away), so I'll reveal more much later when I'm in witness protection. Read. Be Happy. Michelle X

It is with great excitement that Bold Strokes Books will be publishing my novel Getting Lost next year (date yet to be determined).
Here's the blurb directly from the Bold Strokes Books website: Getting Lost – Coming in 2015 Twenty-eight days, thirteen European countries, a tour manager fighting attraction and an accused murderer. What could possibly go wrong? European tour manger Stella Cruz, has adeptly led eager tourists around Europe for far too long. Nearly thirty, she is ready to abandon a constantly changing clientele and the never ending stream of willing bed partners. Enter Phoebe Lancaster, tall, blond, and dangerous. Arrested for the murder of her socialite girlfriend, but later released, Phoebe’s presence on the tour is an unnerving mystery and a reckless temptation for Stella. With a few other projects in the pipeline, I should hopefully be in a position to share more good news in the coming weeks. Read. Be Happy. Michelle X P.S. The lover's Bridge in Paris...(I wonder are Cassie and Scott still together?) I'm delighted to announce that I'll be attending the Bold Strokes Books book festival in Nottingham on June 7 and 8 - as an author!
For anyone interested in coming along, it will be held at Waterstones in Nottingham. Check out the information at www.boldstrokesauthorfestuk.wordpress.com. Obviously with Getting Lost not due out until 2015, I'll simply loiter, eat the free food, and make up ridiculous responses to any questions that come my way. Come and get lost in Nottingham, that's what I'll be doing! Is it just me, or does everyone else find summer a distraction?
To begin, my beautiful girlfriend visited from the UK - a HUGE distraction but an amazing Christmas. Now I'm srrounded by wonderful summer weather (although, only sometimes - even I can't seriously talk up our weather. Tasmania is seemingly attempting to pack all four seasons into everyday) and with Australia thrashing the Poms in cricket and the Australian Open on the TV constantly, I'm distracted! However, after some late night typing I have managed to complete the first draft of my next project; Berlin. Set in Melbourne, Australia (no, not Berlin - it's only a working title) during a swelting summer, we are lucky enough to delve into the lives of four working women, and in particular the unlikely connection that developes between two of them. Charatcter driven and intimate, I'm looking forward to producing a novel I hope we can all become immersed in. So, please excuse me while I toddle off to become completely distracted by the punnet of strawberries I can see in the kitchen! Read. Be Happy. Michelle X Finally, my third novel has a working title - Berlin!
Not named because it is set in Berlin, nor because I secretly channel the eighties music group, but simply because it's the first name that popped into my head after skimming through the first chapter. Having received some expert advice regarding the plot of Getting Lost (more news to come on this soon), I am busy applying the same principles to Berlin and am currently 2/3 of the way through a first draft. I hope to begin work polishing a completed first draft early in the new year. Write. Be Happy. Michelle X After what seems like forever, I'm pleased to announce that Getting Lost has been through the wringer and has emerged, only slightly battle worn, on the other side! I will be in a position to advise its fate within a few months, so please stay tuned. Book three is in the final stages of a first draft and I'll have more information on that one just as soon as I can come up with a catchy title! Write. Be happy. Michelle X |
